Hard to categorise as an artist, Alfred has made paintings, drawings, prints and collages. His recent series of self-portraits could be compared to those of the ‘School of London’ painters, such as Kossoff, Freud and Auerbach, and therefore be linked to the Jewish Expressionist philosophy of art.
Alfred’s work has been exhibited widely in private and public galleries, both in the UK and abroad, including Sweden, USA, Israel and Japan. He retired as Chairman of the Department of Art and Design, University of London, Institute of Education in 1988. Alfred now focuses on his work as an independent artist. He lives and works in London.
